designing on the limit

a series of small intervention to enrich and expand the hiking/viewing experience

The prompt of this studio is almost completely open. Students are to design a small scale intervention of any function which reflects and respects the existing site, landscape, and environmental conditions. For my project, I decided to create a series of intervention which breaks up the hiking path into segments for the visitors, and also brings new functions such as restrooms and enhances existing activities such as bird hives to the site. The first intervention houses the most programs and has the biggest footprint, which acts as a proper "entrance." The second is the smallest intervention which is situated halfway between the first and the third on a steep cliff side, and it functions as a "pit-stop." The final intervention is the "destination", and it is a bird hive for people to rest and watch the rock sparrows in their natural habitat. All three interventions relates to one another visually and functionally, and the emergence of these intervention respects and compliments its respective site conditions.
